A Soweto mother gave birth in a toilet at the Chris Hani-Baragwanath Academic Hospital maternity ward after nurses told her the baby was still far from being delivered - and that she was a "silly midwife who knows too much". Maria Mbatha, 39, of Freedom Park, went to the hospital last Monday for a routine check-up for blood pressure.
