With an average of 325,000 people dying in American hospitals each year from medical errors, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer released a report Friday urging California's doctors, nurses and others to increase their efforts to prevent what she noted is the third leading cause of death nationwide behind heart disease and cancer.

Eight nurses and nine nurse's aides are charged with endangering the welfare of a nursing home patient in Buffalo.

The Florida House on Friday passed an omnibus health bill laden with multiple provisions that would increase access to care by expanding the power of nurse practitioners and promoting the use of telemedicine.
