Intensive care diaries protect patients from PTSD, researchers find

Now researchers writing in BioMed Central's open access journal Critical Care have found that if staff and close relatives make a diary for patients, featuring information about their stay and accompanied by photographs, PTSD rates can be significantly reduced.
St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center laid off 30 full-time workers this week, including nurses , as it continues to thin its employee ranks.
Nationally, and around the state of Virginia, there is a need for more nurses. However, Harrisonburg does not have quite as great a need as the rest of the state.
