UCF, author defend textbook that prompted lawsuit

In a lawsuit filed Nov. 10, Dr. Nancy Rudner Lugo accused the university of letting her go because she refused to use a textbook that she said "contains antiquated and offensive racial, ethnic and other stereotypes." Former UCF professor Nancy Rudner Lugo's contract was not renewed by the University of Central Florida in 2008.
