| Nursing - News January 25, 2014 In just 20 years, the Wisconsin Center for Nursing predicts Wisconsin could see a shortage of 20,000 registered nurses. Gail Wibel, who retired from Cartersville Medical Center with more than 38 years of service, looks at a photo of the hospital presented to her from Lisa Ponder, RN, that includes the written well-wishes of current and former co-workers. Janet Rigby works as an overnight bank nurse at St John's Hospice in Lancaster and says this is a sentiment shared by all of her colleagues there. Joe Long first thought of becoming a nurse when his wife was hospitalized for a week during her pregnancy with their second child. A nursing assistant who had thought of being an "Angel of Death" for elderly patients in her care has had her license immediately suspended. At one point during his testimony in a federal courtroom in Hartford Thursday, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital President Bruce Cummings made mention of a building the hospital bought recently for $2.5 million on "Howard Avenue" in New London.
