Study finds family acceptance of LGBT youth protects against depression, substance abuse, suicide

For the first time, researchers have established a clear link between accepting family attitudes and behaviors towards their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender children and significantly decreased risk and better overall health in adulthood.
David Harris is a professor for the School of Nursing. He has a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Vermont Medical School, an undergraduate degree in Nursing from Salem State College and has been certified in Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Anesthesia.
