Simon Stevens, a former private health firm executive, will start his new job as chief executive of NHS England today.

"The dismissed staff members include three midwives who neglected a pregnant mother leading her to give birth in a street outside a clinic in the Tshwane district," department spokeswoman Phume Khumalo said on Monday.

Members of the governing body of the South Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group heard about plans to improve patient flow through the county's hospitals at a meeting on Thursday, March 27.
